Our replacement window and door company gets a lot of calls from San Jose homeowners wanting new patio doors in their homes. They love the idea of installing a new set of doors that are more energy efficient than the ones that came with their home, and also ones that slide freely for convenient access to their backyard or balcony. Patio doors are a great upgrade to any San Jose home!
One thing we don’t get a lot of requests for, however, is sliding patio doors with in-glass pet doors. Probably because most homeowners don’t know this is even an option! When we go to a San Jose home to provide a quote for new patio doors and see that the family has pets, we will mention that they can upgrade the patio doors from Monte Verde to include an in-glass pet door. Typically, the homeowners think this is a great idea and go for the upgrade.
We don’t usually try to “upsell” our customers on many window and door upgrades, but we’ve had so many pet-owning customers who have been happy with the in-glass pet doors that we like to at least mention the option.
The in-glass pet doors can be placed in either swinging or sliding glass patio doors. As the name implies, the pet door is built right into the glass, which means you no longer have to cut a separate hole in your wall to give your pets free access to the outdoors!
The in-glass pet doors in Monte Verde’s patio doors are especially well made. They have a heavy-duty frame that will last for many years, even with heavy use by multiple pets. The weatherstripping around the pet door and the magnetic seal help to keep the elements out. In addition, due to its slim design, the pet door doesn’t interfere at all with the operation of the patio door. You can have it placed in either a stationary or an operable panel of a sliding patio door.
The in-glass pet doors come in four different sizes, so you can choose the size that will best accommodate your pets. The door can be as small as 6×9” to as large as 13×23”.
Not only will a dog door allow your pet to have more freedom and get more exercise, but it will also keep you from having to let them out every time they need to relieve themselves. It may also keep them from clawing at your door and causing damage, when they can just let themselves out when needed.
